Government Railway Police (GRP) & The Railway Protection Force (RPF)

Railways are being given security by two forces. One is Railway Protection Force or RPF, which comes under central government. The other is Government Railway Police or GRP, which is managed by the state government.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF)

Policing on the Railways being the constitutional responsibility of State Governments, State Police have a separate wing in the name of Government Railway Police (GRP) for the registration of cases, their investigation and maintenance of law & order within railway premises as well as running trains.
